Trees: the Acacia

Have them make a chest of acacia wood--two and a half cubits long,
a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half high Then make poles
of acacia wood and overlay them with gold Exodus 25:10; 13

In that passage, God is telling the Israelites how they should make the ark of the covenant. God made a rule that no one could touch the ark, and it's not such a good idea to touch the branch of an acacia tree either.
It has large thor
ns and it's leaves are poisonous.

I will put in the desert the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive. I will set pines in the wasteland, the fir and the cypress together, so that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the LORD has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it. Isaiah 41:20

The Acacia
The Cedar
The Palm
The Fig
The Olive

  1. That's interesting! I doubt the ark had thorns on it, but it is cool that God wanted the Israelites to use a thorny wood to build His resting place. I think it is cool how the tree looks like a shelter, with the branches spread out like that. I wonder if that means anything...it is a beautiful tree!

I love this series so far! Keep it up!

  2. I don't think that the ark had thorns on it either. I did not mean to have anyone think that, but I was just try to that I think God picked that wood to say that you should be careful. And I never noticed the shelter thing, but that is an interesting observation.
