All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man,
but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
James 3:6-8
...no man can tame the tongue.... that's very true. your tongue is full of deadly poison. our own mouth should be like that, James 3:10 says it best:
Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.
James 3:2 tells you this:
We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.
It's hard to tame the tongue, I wouldn't pretend that I have, but here are some warnings to wrap it up:
May the LORD cut off all flattering lips and every boastful tongue Psalm 12:3
Your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor, you who practice deceit. psalm 52:2
Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment. proverbs 12:19 |
A fortune made by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor and a deadly snare.proverbs 21:6 |
A lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin. Proverbs 26:28
Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. James 3:5
