Job: The Lord Answers (Chapter 38)

Then the LORD answered Job out of the storm. He said: "Who is this that darkens my counsel with words without knowledge? Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. (Job 38:1-2)

Starting with Job 38 (going through Job 42), I will write out some questions God asks Job. if you have extra time, try reading all the questions, they are interesting, but I don't have the space to write them all here.

Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand.
Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it?
Who shut up the sea behind door when it burst forth from the womb, when I made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in thick darkness.
Have you ever given orders to the morning, or shown the dawn its place, that it might take the earth by the edges and shake the wicked out of it?
Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail, which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle?
Does the rain have a father? Who fathers the drops of dew?
Can you raise your voice to the clouds and cover yourself with a flood of water?
Do you send the lightning bolts on their way? Do they report to you, 'Here we are'?
Who has the wisdom to count the clouds? Who can tip over the water jars of the heavens
Do you hunt the prey for the lioness and satisfy the hunger of the lions when they crouch in their dens or lie in wait in a thicket?

Job: His second test

Ok, so Job's second test might not seem very clear to you if you've read Job, but his is when three friends ( Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite) came to visit him, I find it another test because as God says later,  "I am angry with you because you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.
Job and his friend spend more than thirty chapter talking, which we will not be discussing, but they are great chapter and if you ever need a passage to read, you might want to consider them. and next time I'll tell you what God asks Job.

Job: Satan talks to God

One day the angels came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them. (Job 1:6)

Ok, I'll stop therefor a little. Some of you may be asking to yourselves 'What is Satan doing before God?" Well, Satan cannot touch you without God's permision. Yes, he can tempt you without it, but if he wants to kill all of Job son's and daughter along with...

The LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?"
Satan answered the LORD, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it."
Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil."
"Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied. "Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face." The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger." Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.
One day when Job's sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother's house, a messenger came to Job and said, "The oxen were plowing and the donkeys were grazing nearby, and the Sabeans attacked and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"
While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, "The fire of God fell from the sky and burned up the sheep and the servants, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"
While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, "The Chaldeans formed three raiding parties and swept down on your camels and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"
While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said, "Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother's house, when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on them and they are dead, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"

I bet your wondering if Job curses God, well keep on reading:
At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised."
In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.

Job: Introduction

Ok, so many of you have heard of Job, he has a book in the bible called "Job" which is about the tests God gave him. This book has over 40 chapters, so I could make quite a long series about  him, but I'll make it as short as I can while hopefully teaching you something about Job.

In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. He had seven sons and three daughters, and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East. His sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, "Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." This was Job's regular custom.

Job is a very rightoues man, he does everything he can to please God.
